Two unlock paths on candidate prep pages

Candidates visiting a Waffle Edge prep page can now choose between two unlock paths, both free for the hiring team:
  • Path A — Pay $7 for instant access to all eight locked questions, plus a WAFFLE-XXXXXX promo code they can give to a manager, peer, or mentor for a free 3-month Starter trial.
  • Path B — Share with up to 8 people across three buckets (hiring managers, peers, mentors). Invites are rate-limited, validated against disposable-email and suppression lists, and unsubscribe-aware.
A new /redeem/[code] flow lets promo-code recipients activate the 3-month Starter trial — existing users apply it with one click, new users sign up via a Clerk invitation that returns them to the redemption page.Learn more about candidate unlock

Candidate prep pages (Waffle Edge)

You can now share a candidate-facing prep page directly from any scorecard. Toggle Share with Candidate on the scorecard, copy the generated link, and send it to the candidate alongside their interview confirmation. The page shows a free sample question plus a preview of role-clarity, red-flag, and strategic-depth questions tailored to the role — no Waffle account required to view.Candidates can optionally sign in with a magic link to revisit the page on any device, and unlock the full question set with a one-time payment. New features

Redesigned integrations page

The integrations page has been completely rebuilt. Browse 30+ tools across seven categories — notetakers, revenue intelligence, conferencing AI, transcription, destinations, calendars, and SSO. Each integration card now displays the company’s logomark, and clicking a card opens a detail drawer with data flow information and a waitlist CTA.Learn more about integrations

Competitor comparison pages

New landing pages compare Waffle to alternatives like BrightHire, Pillar, Metaview, and Google Docs templates. Each page includes a feature comparison table, key differentiators, and an FAQ — so you can see exactly how Waffle stacks up.

ULTRA mode toggle in mobile header

The ULTRA mode toggle has moved from the chat composer to the mobile header bar. This makes it easier to switch between standard and ULTRA modes on smaller screens without scrolling to the composer.Learn more about ULTRA mode

Desktop recommendation banner on mobile

When you visit Waffle on a mobile device, a dismissible banner now lets you know the app is optimized for desktop. You can close it once and it won’t appear again.

Updates

Universal transcript ingestion positioning

Product copy across the app now reflects Waffle’s universal transcript ingestion approach. The integrations page highlights support for 30+ notetaker and destination tools, framed around transcript platform terminology.Learn more about transcript ingestion

Mobile layout polish

A series of mobile improvements shipped this week:
  • Notch and safe area handling — the mobile header no longer collides with the Dynamic Island or notch on iOS Safari
  • Keyboard behavior — the chat composer now rises above the on-screen keyboard on Android devices
  • Home indicator spacing — bottom navigation tabs sit flush with the iOS home indicator
  • Scorecard scrolling — the scorecard detail page scrolls correctly on mobile again
  • Role card heights — welcome screen role cards are now equal height at every breakpoint

Homepage updates

The homepage now includes a “More features coming soon” card previewing upcoming capabilities like team collaboration, candidate compare, and live scoring. The footer also features a “Built with” section showing Waffle’s tech stack.

Overall Score denominator fix

The Overall Score tile on the bento grid now correctly displays the rating scale.

Bug fixes

  • Scorecard generation blocked by email opt-out — unsubscribing from emails no longer prevents free-tier users from generating scorecards
  • Error message contrast — error messages are now readable in dark mode
  • Duplicate Beta badge — removed a second Beta badge that appeared in the announcement pill
  • Rubric tooltip removed — the distracting hover tooltip on rubric rating strips has been replaced with static content
  • Analytics bar animation — the homepage analytics bar animation now plays once instead of looping

New features

Bento grid scorecard detail view

The scorecard detail page now uses a visual bento grid layout. Competency tiles are sized by importance weight — critical competencies (weight 4–5) appear as large 2×2 tiles, while supporting competencies use smaller 2×1 tiles. The grid includes a hero tile with the role title and an overall score tile that displays the aggregate rating when a transcript has been scored.Learn more about the bento grid layout

Competency drawer

Click any competency tile to open a detail drawer with evidence excerpts, the full scoring rubric, interview questions, and the AI-assigned rating. On desktop, the drawer slides in from the right. On mobile, it opens as a swipeable bottom sheet.Learn more about the competency drawer

Competency score charts

Scored scorecards now display a chart visualization that summarizes ratings across all competencies. The chart type is selected automatically based on the role category — bar charts for technical roles, radar charts for leadership, and summary cards for sales and creative roles.Learn more about competency charts

Score overrides

You can now manually override an AI-assigned competency rating from the competency drawer. Select a new rating, provide a reason, and save. Overrides are logged for transparency.Learn more about overriding scores

Delete transcripts

You can now delete an attached transcript from the scorecard detail page. Deleting a transcript removes it and clears all associated competency scores.Learn more about managing transcripts

Speaker-label parsing for pasted transcripts

When you paste plain text transcripts, Waffle now automatically detects common speaker-label patterns (such as “Interviewer:” or “Candidate:”) and parses them into separate speaker turns. This improves scoring accuracy for pasted transcripts that include speaker identifiers.Learn more about pasting transcripts

Updates

Template ULTRA mode auto-sync

Selecting a template now automatically syncs the ULTRA mode toggle to match the template’s tier. Premium templates enable ULTRA, and standard templates disable it. This prevents a stale ULTRA selection from a prior chat from carrying over.Learn more about templates

Compact transcript bar

The transcript section on the scorecard detail page is now collapsed by default with a compact bar trigger, keeping the bento grid visible above the fold on first load.

ULTRA confirmation card visual treatment

The scorecard confirmation step now renders distinct amber and gold theming when ULTRA mode is active, including a 3×credits badge and gradient call-to-action button, so you can clearly see which mode is selected before generating.

New features

Transcript ingestion

You can now upload or paste interview transcripts directly onto any scorecard. Waffle accepts VTT, SRT, JSON, and plain text files up to 10 MB. Drag and drop a file, or paste transcript text from any meeting tool — Waffle auto-detects the format and extracts speaker turns, timestamps, and participants.Learn more about transcript ingestion

AI competency scoring

Once a transcript is attached, Waffle’s AI automatically scores the candidate against every competency on the scorecard. Each competency receives a 1-5 rating, a confidence level, and up to three evidence excerpts pulled directly from the transcript. Scoring follows EEOC guidelines and evaluates only job-relevant skills.Learn more about AI scoring

Scoring token budgets

Every plan now includes a monthly token budget for transcript scoring. Free accounts get 50,000 tokens, Starter gets 500,000, Growth gets 1,500,000, and Scale gets 5,000,000. Enterprise plans have unlimited tokens. Usage is tracked in Settings and resets each billing cycle.View plan details

Scorecard confirmation step

Before generating a scorecard, Waffle now shows a confirmation card with the detected role, estimated competency count, and JD source. You can click “Generate Scorecard” to proceed or “Adjust first” to refine your inputs. This gives you a chance to verify the AI understood your intent before spending a generation credit.Learn more about the confirmation step

Automatic job description fetch

When you type a short role name (e.g., “Senior Product Manager”) instead of pasting a full JD, Waffle now auto-fetches a real job description from the web. If you paste a longer description (300+ characters with typical JD keywords), Waffle uses it directly without fetching.Learn more about providing job descriptions

Streaming visualization for all plans

The real-time streaming visualization that shows your scorecard being built live is now available on every plan, including Free. Previously this was limited to ULTRA mode — now all users see competencies, questions, and rubrics appear in real time as the AI generates them.Learn more about streaming visualization

Free plan lifetime generation caps

Free accounts now have lifetime caps: 5 ULTRA generations and 15 total generations (standard + ULTRA). These caps are tracked independently of scorecard deletion, so archiving or deleting scorecards does not reset them. This keeps the free tier generous for evaluators while preventing abuse.Learn more about ULTRA credits

Mobile-optimized onboarding tour

The guided onboarding walkthrough now adapts to your device. On mobile, each step appears as a bottom-anchored card (similar to iOS coach marks) that you can swipe through. The tour covers the chat composer, your library, settings, and the quick-start guide.See the guided tour

Beta badge

Waffle now displays a Beta badge in the app to set expectations as we continue building. Free-tier notifications are also gated so you only receive relevant alerts.

Updates

Improved mobile experience

A major round of mobile improvements shipped this cycle:
  • Composer positioning — the chat composer now sits above the bottom navigation tabs, so it’s never hidden behind controls
  • Scroll behavior — the welcome screen and chat page no longer double-scroll on mobile
  • Announcement banners — banners are now visible on first load without needing to scroll
  • Template gallery — the templates page is now responsive on mobile and tablet

Annual billing for Growth and Scale

Growth (119/mo)andScale(119/mo) and Scale (199/mo) plans now offer 20% off with annual billing1,142.40/yrand1,142.40/yr and 1,910.40/yr respectively. Switch from Settings → Billing at any time.View all plans

Expanded documentation

Ten new documentation pages and updates to seven existing pages, covering notifications, the guided tour, email-to-scorecard, the corporate dictionary, and more.

Bug fixes

  • Archived scorecard billing loophole — free-plan users can no longer access archived scorecards to bypass active slot limits
  • Welcome screen double scroll — fixed overlapping layout issues that caused double scrollbars on desktop and mobile
  • Feedback sheet data loss — closing and reopening the feedback form no longer clears your draft
  • Thread list visibility — timestamps and action menus now display correctly in the sidebar thread list
  • Reasoning block collapsed by default — the AI reasoning section stays collapsed during streaming so it doesn’t distract from the scorecard output
